The Biggest Little City brought out the cosplay for the Reno Sands Comic Con! Big thanks to the fandom, organizers, and exhibitors of this year’s convention!

I’ll start out by saying how tired I am–today (Monday) was rough after the whirlwind weekend and long drives–but I’d do it all over again in a second. I can’t understate how warm the reception was. Wow. Serious. Reno really made me feel special! I got to meet dozens of amazing individuals and our conversations won’t fade in my memory any time soon. That’s what these shows are all about–the connection.

Speaking of which, I understand how risky it is taking a chance on an author or book you’ve never heard of. With that said, Reno took a chance on me. Thank you. The Final Book: Gods made its way into a lot of hands and that blows my mind. A few even began reading it right away and came back the next day to say how they couldn’t put it down. Those are the types of things you never imagine.

Wow wee, things look a bit different, eh?? Check out the brand new website!

Here she be—I like the new design quite a bit and it should serve the cause well. At the very least, it should now look pretty fancy on phones and tablets.

The old site lasted about five and half years—pretty good. It was an early version of a mobile “responsive” website, and while it “worked” on phones, it didn’t work very well. Things were getting jumbled, articles hard to read, and it was about impossible to find anything. I hate my phone, but apparently the rest of the world doesn't feel the same way–the majority of traffic now seeming to be mobile. Hopefully this makes things easier—please let me know if it doesn’t!

Hey, hey! I had a great time at the Amazing! Las Vegas Comic Con a couple of weeks ago and met so many fantastic people. I was lucky to get placed next to fellow author, Natalie Wright; she made the weekend so much fun. Also, Alex and Riney Whisenand made me the coolest sketch of Max and Chloe from Life Is Strange—I keep it on my desk and it makes me happy, haha.

SW Hammond talks with Amber Stoke about the creative process behind The Final Book: Gods, favorite characters, and the future of the trilogy.

What was the inspiration for your story?

The idea for The Final Book came to me as I was digging fencepost holes in Colorado Springs. I had a lot of time to myself, digging hole after hole by hand in an empty field. Anyone who has been to Colorado Springs knows that you can't escape the shadow of Pikes Peak--the mountain is enormous, majestic, and inspiring. While peaceful and sunny in the middle of town, you can watch storms come in over the top of its peak, the wind blowing snow for miles out into the sky. It seemed to me that if moody ol' Zeus were ever to leave Mount Olympus, this would be his peak of choice. Frustrated, sweating, and barely scratching away at the dirt, my mind became lost in a fantastic tale of the Gods living right above the city.
